Gibbon Group's enduring commitment is to represent innovative, high quality, sustainable flooring products to the Australian marketplace through our dedicated teams across both our Architectural and Trade Divisions.

Our mission is to meet the demands of ongoing change with an excellence in service at all levels of business interaction and client/stakeholder relationships.

Business is about relationships and finding synergies. Over the past 100 years, Gibbon Group had to evolve through many iterations and survive very difficult times to get where it is today - quite a different business from its start in 1920.

As Flooring Wholesale Distributors servicing both the architectural community and the flooring installation trade, the one constant has been the importance placed on client, employee and supplier relationships - a factor that we believe has contributed to our longevity over these many years.

Ainsley Gibbon, Managing Director since the 1990's, has long seen the business as providing a catalyst for positive environmental change through the products the company represents and through the influence it can exert with their suppliers. For over 20 years she supported initiatives to improve environmental sustainability, with Gibbon Group becoming one of the first flooring companies to be a member of the Green Building Council of Australia.

Back in the early 2000's, Gibbon Group was one of the first flooring companies to be listed on the Ecospecifier website (in the days before third party environmental certifications), and Ainsley Gibbon could see the importance of keeping abreast of the developing environmental discourse over these many years. This drove an urgency to represent products from Manufacturers who were proactive in adapting to the changing demands of environmental certification and she was instrumental in ensuring that our products would achieve Australian third-party environmental certification through industry-accredited bodies.

Over these many years, environmental sustainability has been the core philosophy and is what drives both the Architectural and Trade Divisions to this day.

Gibbon Group opened its doors over 100 years ago. Five generations of the Gibbon family have devoted their lives to building Gibbon Group's distribution network, supply chain, expertise and best-in-category commercial interior products for the architect/design industry and superior quality flooring installation accessories to the flooring installer trade.

The company - originally C&HW Gibbon - was founded by Charles & Harold W. Gibbon as Wholesale Leather Merchants in 1920 and managed to survive the Great Depression, WWI and WWII. Today, Ainsley Gibbon and her two daughters - Georgia Harmon and Celia Harmon - are shareholders and active in the business, along with their partners, Nathan and Michael. The business thrives because of the shared values and major contribution of the whole team of people in Gibbon Group's two Divisions.
