‘Curiously Positioned’ Rug Collection
Gibbon Group have teamed up with Canadian artist Greg MacLaughin from TW Fine Art to create a NEW Designer Collection of Tretford Custom Rugs. Greg’s eye for complex simplicity has paired seamlessly with the raw but structured texture of Tretford Carpet. Now residing in Seoul (Korea), Greg completed his post graduate studies at the Art Center College of Design in California (as well as being the recipient of the Starr Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Arts in London) and has exhibited all over the UK and USA.
‘CURIOUSLY POSITIONED’ COLLECTION
We’re proud to be able to bring you Greg MacLaughlin’s ‘Curiously Positioned’ Collection of Tretford Custom Rugs. All of the shapes and patterns are the results of Greg’s unique programming method. For these works Greg wrote a program that created compositions where the ratios and patterns where generated through chance operations. Then came the long process of cycling through hundreds of potential compositions until he hit upon those that created a high level of dynamic activation. Greg says the key was to create shapes and color relationships that would shift very subtly as people move about and over the rugs.

Tretford Rug Collections are made from Mongolian Goat Hair Fibre.
Goat Hair Fibre is different than wool because the fibres are uniquely solid, making them a lot more resistant to staining than other materials. Mongolian Goat Hair Fibre is as tough as the animals that live in Mongolia and as colourful as they people who hand cut and care for it.
